HI Jonesy,
Now that Brampton accomplished the goal of winning the Mann Cup.
Any predictions on a mass exodus to the west??
Lacrositutessitute....
No doubt its going to be long winter in Lakerland, not being in the Mann Cup for the first time in 5 years really sucked.
I'm hearing a couple key players will be out West next season, but its only September 11th now.....things can and will change by then.
Playing out West when the Mann Cup is there sounds great, buy really only a few can actually make it happen, you have to unemployed, or a teacher, young, usually single......etc, etc.
No doubt the Bellies are the team to go to, they have the goal-tending and the defense to complete with Brampton, but needed a little more scoring punch.
Also going out West doesn't mean you are going to win the Mann Cup, remember when JR and Tracy played for Coquitlam Adanacs in 2002,2003.......they didnt win it, I dont think they even played in the Mann Cup those years.
All these players have to get ready for the 2009 NLL season. The big trades and surprises will come after the NLL season is over. Nothing happens in the MSL until next April, May, June.....
I woundnt call the 2009 Laker season as a "re-buiding" season at all.
But with-out JR there, that gives the Offense and great opportunity to try something different.
Hopefully Jamie Batley is back as GM/Coach, the Lakers need his expertise in the game of Lacrosse, the players and the NLL.
I can see Batley pulling off a few big trades in the spring.
How about a O'Toole for Cosmo?........or maybe Miller?
I really think O'Toole has played his last game for the Lakers, I had a errie feeling watching Pat stand by himself and the end of the Brampton rink...watching the Excelsiors celebrate beating the Lakers in the 7th game.
Makes sence to me if he finds his way back on the Brampton team, dont forget he won the "Mike Kelly Award" with Brampton back in 1998 winning the Mann Cup.(doesn't he live in Brampton??...have a son playing minor lacrosse there?)
Should be a interesting year in Chicago this season with Cosmo joining half the Lakers on the Shamrock team, coached by Batley. The Shamrocks will surprise a lot of teams this year!!!
I really see a Miller and speedy transition player trade for O'Toole.
Miller is a great goalie, I remember last season in the play-offs he out-played Cosmo in that series.(remember Cosmo was pulled almost every game)
Image Cosmo playing for the Lakers!!!..........never know?????????????
Should be a interesting spring........
